The war wound!

So there's this huge oven we cook the potatoes in, right? Well, I was rotating them out: the done ones into the drawer to keep 'em warm, the uncooked ones in. Ok, well, this oven is like, super freakin' hot. And I took out the tray of taters and had to back up as to not hit this guy with the super-heated tray. Well, in so doing, I tap my arm on the door. I felt that I tapped it and continued on with the whole process, and after I finish I look at my arm just to see if it did anything. It did. At first it looks like just a white mark on my arm. It turns out that it was white 'cause the skin there had pretty much melted off. That's kinda why it didn't hurt either. But it's all good. I'm going to have a wicked scar there. Just add to my collection. Maybe I shouldn't work in the kitchen (not like I have a choice). Cut my finger with the large knife the first day. This burn today. Who knows what's next. Put a knife through my hand? Cut off a finger? Slip and slam my face into the oven? That would hurt. Anyways. I'll talk to youins later.

The big one, two, oh.

Hey guys. Today was the first day at work that I actually worked. It went ok. I did cut off my thumb, but it wasn't anything too major. Ok, I didn't actually cut off my thumb, but I did slice it right nice. Bled alot, hurts more. But it's all good. That's the way to start off your day, let me tell ya. Anyways. I finished that work stuff and got home and then did some of that crap, I mean,... school. Then it was off the gym! yeah!.... not. I actually gained two more pounds. I'm up to 127 now! I think it was all that walkin' at the Opryland Hotel. Buildin' me some nice legs... or something like that... or not at all. Ok, enough rambling for now. Talk to youins later.

L2L

So this past weekend was Lads to Leaders/Leaderettes. It was a freakin' blast. I'll go through a day by day assesment.
  • THURSDAY was when I got there. The first thing we did when we got to Nashville was play some disc golf at the Two Rivers disc golf course. That was fun, but no way to start off a weekend in which you'll be walking non-stop. The course was all hills. Up and down and down and up. And they were no small inclines neither. But it was still fun. Afterwards we drove to the Opryland hotel to see if our rooms were ready... which they weren't. So we walk over to the Mills (that's Opry Mills to the lay man). Anyways. We go there and walk around doing nothing but being silly and making fun of some of the stores there. Well, when we get back we wait for our rooms and rendezvous with some a the Madisonites that had got there. Well, we get some of the rooms, none the one I was in. Well, by this time it's time to get some grub. I go with a group to the Walk of the Talk, or the Talk of the Cock, or maybe it was the Cock of the Walk. Who know's. It was madness trying to get there though. No one seemed to know who was riding with who or who was going. Well, I finally get a ride with Stephen and his family. The restaurant was good, but overpriced and over-rated. Well, get back and I finally have room. After doing a little settling in, I go with Stephen to help move the food to the food room. We had to move the stuff halfway across the hotel! It was madness. Well, we got it all up there and got some free food, so it was all good. After that I walked around with some peoples for a while. Then after 11:00 Fannie Mare and Laura Beth and Stephen grouped up with me so they could stay up late. So they worked on their scrapbooks for a while. Then I headed to bed once they went to their rooms. That was around 11:30 or 12:00 or so.
  • FRIDAY started off with my wondering around aimlessly and looking for familiar faces. I stopped off at the arcade for a bit and played Area 51 for a time. I didn't really do much except wander aimlessly 'cause the person I wanted to do stuff with had things to do all that day. Bummer. But that evening was puppets. We finished our props and learned our songs around 45 minutes before we went in. We actually did good except that our rear back-drop fell. I held my hand up the entire puppet skit without wavering. That was murder, let me tell ya. But yeah. After that Schopper and I carried in the banner for our church in that night's award ceremony. Right after we got off the stage and dropped the banner thing with dad, I jumped ship and met up with some friends at the food court. Then we walked around and did some stuff. Can't really remember what, but yeah. Then that night Laura and Brittany wanted to stay up late so they begged me to stay up with them so they could. So I stayed out til 12:00.
  • SATURDAY I got up at 7:30 so I could get to Bible Bowl. I was really tired, needless to say. I missed 3 questions. One I couldn't remember. The second I accidentally lifted up the wrong letter do to lack of paying attention. The third I didn't think enough on. But yeah. There was a tie and it took like 7 tie breaker questions to break it. Our team was one of the two teams which the tie involved I found out later. It was to see who would get first. We won. So the team I was on won first. So that was cool. After Bible Bowl I got together with Julie and Ellen and Claire and David and Bailey (I think Dave was there). We were going to run over to Opry Mills, but Bailey and I had Songs of Praise and Song Leading so we didn't really have time to go before that started, so we just hung out instead. Well, I ran off to Song Leading and find out that there are only three guys that were in the 12th grade doing it: Bob (Billy Carson), a guy whose name was Will Tucker (I kept calling him Will Turner though), and me. I got third amongst them probably mostly do to the fact that I didn't do the useless hand thing. But yeah. Anyway. I meet up with the aforementioned Opry Mills going group and we were going to go then, but we didn't have time 'cause of the devo. So we went to the devo and then to the award ceremony. Madisonites won alotta stuff. After the ceremony Julie, Ellen, Ashley, Claire, David and I all went and got some food, and then went to the fountain thingy to eat it. Well, I didn't get food, but that's irrelevant. I would say that that's the only thing that I did at that fountain thing, but it wasn't. There's only one that know's what else. But yeah. That night I got to bed at around 12:00 or 12:30 or so.
  • SUNDAY I got up at 6:30 'cause I had to help out with the Lord's supper that morning. After services we left. And that's pretty much all that happened that day.

So that's L2L weekend in a nutshell.

Today, Monday, I started work. Well, it was "orientation", but still. I think I'm going to like it. I'm working mornings, but on Saturday Stephen and I are going to be workin' at the same time. That could get interesting. But I'm workin' in the back in the kitchen, Stephen's in the front. But yeah. That's all I'll blog for now.

Upcomings

So guys, it's less than a day til the L2L convention. Ready? I'm not sure that I'm really completely prepared. I don't know. Maybe it's that all of our props aren't done yet? Could be, could be. So yeah. Thursday I'm going up, and about half of our group. We're going to have to plan some sorta rendezvous point or something. It's gonna be fun going to the Opryland hotel again. I know I've been there a billion times before and that I know it well enough that I don't have to think about where I'm going to get there, but it's still a blast. The curfew is set at 12:00 midnight for everyone to be in their rooms... but if you're 18 or older you can stay up! Oh yeah! Except all my friends are younger than 18... crap! Well, you win some you lose some. Maybe they'll let me be a representative for them and let some people stay up with me...? Who knows. Maybe I can bribe the security guards with donuts; but that could get expensive. Well, I guess I'll figure that out when I get there. I start work the day after we get back from convention; what timing. Well, it'll (hopefully) be worth it. I can save up and get a car. That would be nice. And I don't want a ghetto mobile, 'cause they're, well... they're ghetto... Anyways. That's all I'll blog for now. Have fun. Don't hurt yourselves. Have a good day. Bye.

Last day of the Week

So yeah. Today's been one flippin' busy day. That's unusual for me. Well, it started off good though, with my parents allowing me to sleep in til nine. Not that that's too much more than normal, but it's the thought that counts. Anyways. Started off with me some breakfast; good to start off a hard day with that; especially when it's waffles. Well, I had to finish fillin' out my apple-cation to McCallister's after that while Dave was out on the town (aka, he went to Wal-Mart. the big WM). After I do that, I walk myself over to the library to drop off a book that was due today. When I get back it's pretty much time for lunch, so I eat me some a that. Well, it just so happens that while Dave and I were gone that Devin had called and wanted to play some disc golf. So I'm like, oh why not. Well, I have to turn in my application first. So I, well, we ('cause my little brother was with me), head out an hour early (i.e. we leave @ 12:30, supposed to be at Mastin Lake @ 1:30). Good thing too. Turns out that Stephen, my buddy my pal, practically got me hired before I even got my application turned back in. So I get in, get an interview and get hired all in the course of about 45 minutes (I start next monday the 28th, if you wanted to know). Unfortunately for David, he was in the car that whole time listening to music and basically being bored. But that's beside the point. So after that escapade, my brother and me head off to golf disc. Well, we meet Devin and Chris (Meacham) and chunk some plastic; but it started to rain on hole 15 or 16 and so we had to call it a day and leave. Well, we get home and get showers because we were hosting some company tonight. After eating a quick bite, we head off to KP's and hang there, playing Halo, foosball, and pingpong. We also watched Saw. It's not a very good movie in my opinion. It'll scare your pants off the first time you watch it and it's got enough gore to whine for a recount (get it Al Gore?...sorry, bad joke... it made me laugh though... anyways). So yeah. And amunkst (amongst*) all of the madness today the phone was ringing off the hook. I called Stephen for info, Kenny for info; I called Julie, Bonny, and seems like there's someone else. Both of our guests called. Devin had called. Seems like Claire may have called. Oh, and Stephen called back too. So yeah. That's alot. For a guy that normally don't get too involved with the telephone it is anyway. But that's about all folks.
.
btw: Julie you shoulda come to KP's.
.
also btw: it's ok for you guys to leave comments. it lets me know that all of my blogging is not completely in vain.
.
also btw: it was funny to see you Fraleys on our way back from the Pinckley's. what's the chance of both being stopped at the same red-light at the same time right next to each other?
.
ok, that's enough by the way's for one blog.

Help or Harm?

Don't ya hate it when someone misinterprets pretty much everything you say? It's really annoying. You try to be nice, you try to help out, you try to give advice, but no matter what you say they'll find some way to just stay upset, angry, depressed, etc. It drives me insane beyond almost anything when people do that. When you're every word is twisted against you. Do they really believe what they're saying is true; or are they just trying to lash out at someone, anyone, just to make themselves feel better? Do they really think you're insulting them, trying to hurt them, or trying to make things worse; or do they just want to revel in their agony, sorrow, etc.? Don't you hate it when someone thinks they know more than you when they really have no clue? When you've been there, done that, and they don't listen. When you tell them what's best, but they don't want to accept that? It's very perturbing. To all those that are like that: you can make your lives easier by just letting people help you,and by listening to the advice of those who know. Of course, you wouldn't believe that would you? What a wonderful paradox.

School, or Shopping...?

Today went pretty good considering we forwent school to go shopping. Yeah, I know it's not fair for you not-home-schooled kids; but that's ok. But yeah. Other than that and the Bible Bowl study session I didn't really do anything else. But I'm going to go and tend to my headache now.

3.05.2005

Yesterday wasn't anything special, and I was gettin' kinda bummed about there not being a prayer group. Needless to say, I was getting a little bored. Dave went somewhere or another doing something. So then I was like, "Man, I wish I could go somewhere or another and do something." Well, I got my wish. Laura calls and tells me that she and Brittany are tryin' to get some people together to watch a movie. So I'm like, I'm all for it. So I go over there in the ghetto truck ('cause David had the car). When I get there they're all laughin' and stuff, so I'm like, "what's so funny?", right. Well, as it turns out, they were wondering if I would actually show up. They had just said that they would call and right after they hung up I would show up. And guess what happened. Weird, eh? So yeah. I get in the line and pay the exorbitant amount of money to get a flippin' ticket. That said and done we go watch the movie. The movie being Hitch. Pretty good. Chick flick, but good none the less. They had bought me this gigantically huge drink of ultimate size 'cause of some deal or something, so needless to say, I had to take a couple potty breaks during the movie. Anyway. The movie began, ran, and ended and they all lived happily ever after. Well, we left and went our separate ways. As I was leaving, I pull up to that left turn only light, you know, the one that turns onto 72 as you're leaving the mall. Well, I barely miss it, so I'm the first car up there. Then this car pulls up in the lane beside me. In the backseat are these two girls. First they start staring at me. Well, not precisely staring, but they kept looking at me. Just a few seconds before the light turned green, one of them waves at me; the other, she winks at me. I thought about winking back, but I decided not to. Why not, you may ask. Who knows. But yeah. That was interesting. But yeah. Today hasn't been much of a day. Did some D&D stuff, drew a little, and helped put some insulation up under the house. All part of a good days work. Now, I'm just sitting on the computer typing this blog. So I'm going to end this thing and do some stuff worth blogging about....

It's been a while

Wow it's been a while since I've blogged. Like, since forever practically. Well, that's mainly due to the lack of exciting events in my life; but that's ok. One can't have too many things happen all at once or you'll just get burned out. But yes. This past weekend was the old Gatlinburg Retreat. Man, that cabin was the biggest freakin' place I've slept in. It was ginormous. Since I was a sr., I was one of the first one's to go to the cabin and check it out. That was fun, runnin' around lookin' at everything. Actually, come to think of it, the sr's were the first up every time we came back to the cabin. This seniority thing is pretty cool. Too bad it only lasts this year... bummer. This was my last Gatlinburg trip. That stinks. But, it happens. There'll be bigger and better things in the future... one can only hope.
.
Well, the other day, I was in the church van with Brandon on the way back from some area wide or something and we were singing and he's like, you should audition for Cornerstone. At first I thought he was joking around, but then he told me there was an opening for the bass position and that I should consider it considering you get a full scholarship if you're in it.
So yeah. I started looking into Faulkner. I applied there and signed up for an audition. May 7th is the day. Well, wish me luck guys.
.
Also something new for you's guys to wish me luck on: I applied for a job! Imagine that. Tomorrow I've got an interview at Chic-a-fil, so maybe I can get a job there and make some green stuff.
.
The title of this blog made me think of a song that I like, so put it on here!

IT'S BEEN A WHILE.
by Staind (edited)
.
It's been a while
Since I could
Hold my head up high
And It's been a while
Since I First saw you
And It's been a while
Since I could stand
on my own two feet again
And it's been a while
Since I could call you

.
And everything I can't remember
As f***ed up as it all may seem
The consequences that i've rendered
I stretched myself beyond my means

.
And It's been a while
Since I can say
That I wasn't addicted and
It's been a while
Since I can say
I love myself as well and
It's been a while
Since I've gone and f***ed things up
Just like I always do
and it's been a while
But all that sh** seems to disappear when I'm with you

.
And everything I can't remember
As f***ed up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I'm gone and fucked things up again

.
Why must I feel this way?
Just make this go away
Just one more peaceful day

.
And it's been awhile
Since I could
Look at myself straight
And it's been a while
Since I said I'm sorry
And it's been a while
Since I've seen the way
the candles light your face
And it's been a while
But I can still remember just the way you taste

.
And everything I can't remember
as f***ed up as it all may seem
To be,
I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me

.
And it's been a while
Since I could
Hold my head up high
And it's been awhile
Since I said I'm sorry
