Road Trip

Oh, Montgomery, Capitol of this beautiful State of Alabama we live in...
.
It's not really all that impressive. Just another city. But this city actually holds Faulkner University. It's a pretty nice place, Faulkner is. But let us start from the beginning...
.
I got up oh, around 9:00 or so on Friday. That felt nice sense I hadn't been able to sleep that late in forever. I get my little suitcase packed and ready to go; and hang out til 'round 1:00 at which time my dad and I head out. We stopped at a good ol' Chevron to grab us a nice cold 20 oz. drink and some road snacks (aka candy!). On my way out I notice that they have Jelly Belly's on this self-serve candy thingamabob. I'm like, I soo have to get me some a dems. So I do. Man, Jelly Belly's rock. It's fun trying to guess the flavor. Anyways, back to the trip. So we go driving driving driving down southwards. [[Fast Forward >> ]] ('cause nothin' really cool or interesting happened driving on the way there except that this big piece of machinery lobbed down a tree as we were going by. but other than that...)
.
We get down there, get our room at the Holiday Inn... or is it Hotel... don't really matter. The rooms were pretty nice though; they left Opryland Hotel's rooms in the dust: they had a fridge and a microwave. Check it. Well, we drop off our luggage and head out to check the campus out and such. We drive over there and find out were I'll need to be Saturday, but we still have a buncha time to kill. So we go grab us a bite to eat at Captain D's. I don't know why, but that place just called to me... who knows... After that we went... To the mall! ((dramatic chord)). It was actually a pretty nice place. No AE though... they need one. But it did have an ice skating rink right smack dab in the middle of it. That was wicked crazy cool stuff, there. And they also had an arcade in which were the Time Crises game series things or whatever. They are almost the awesomest thing ever; so I played me a round er two. Then it was back to the room were dad and I played cards and stuff...
.
But there was this guy... ugh. We were playing cards and stuff, and I smell cigarette smoke. I'm like, that stinks. Come to find out there's this guy smoking outside our room: a no smoking room! To make a sorta long story short, we get a new room and it all turns out hunky dunky. smokers...
.
Saturday: get up, take me a shower, pack, eat me a hardee's biscuit, brush my teeth, and head over to the place for the auditions. Well, I wasn't nervous, which was good. I was doing ok, keeping calm. Waiting. And then they call my name and I go up there. That's when near panic struck me in the forehead. The blood in my veins sped to 100 miles an hour, and neither my hands nor voice could stay steady.... that was crap, lemme tell ya. The first song I sing: When They Ring Those Bells went about as smoothly as 60 grit sandpaper. The second song was The Way You Do the Things You Do. That one actually went pretty well, I think. Then there was a little Q and A; and I leave. Then it's the wait for the cut. Talk about nerve racking. Well, it turns out that I don't make the cut.
.
Well, before dad and I head back, we take a quick tour of the campus. Nice place. But yeah. Then we head back. Eat at Captain D's again. I know, we had already eaten there, but hey, it's all good. On the way back I saw this billboard that said, "GO TO CHURCH or the devil will get you". I thought that I might share that with you. I also drove part of the way home... the part through Birmingham. I have to say, I don't want to have to do that again, just too many cars. (one strike against Faulkner). But yeah. We switch places at a rest stop and I sleep the rest of the way home.
.
And now I'm back. That was my weekend; how was yours? Only you can decide. sorry that's kinda cheesy. oh well. chow, dudes. keep cool.
