Blarg?

School starts today... the fun and joys of that college thing. Perhaps I shall go to the range and shoot my AK after class... yeah... At least I don't have anything really to do tomorrow other than class. AND I curbed my gooberness and didn't register for any 8:00 classes. Earliest is a 9:00. I can handle that.

big and happily destructive

It may look like any other rifle, but this is a no joke lead-lobber. It's like an arm cannon. This is the .50 (read "fifty cal" or "fifty caliber") AR-50 rifle. To kinda put its size into perspective, just look at the grip. That barrel is meant to fire a 1/2 inch diameter (that's what the .50 means) bullet, and is somewhere in the range of and inch and a quarter to an inch and a half in diameter itself. The rifle itself weights somewhere in the range of 50lbs or so. Gander Mountain in Huntsville had one for a couple thousand bucks.

This rifle, although undeniably cool, is not too cost effective. The rounds it fires are around $6 a pop. That's a whole stinkin' lot, if you're not familiar with ammunition prices; I can get a box of .223 (ar-15) or 7.62 (ak-47 or sks) for that price. One bullet or 20? ...hmm.

Anyway, it is a minor goal of mine to shoot one of those. I may never own one, cause even I would rather have and shoot 2 "smaller" rifles instead of one bigger one; but just shooting this monster would make any self respecting man feel like he accomplished something... which he did: throwing enough lead to incapacitate a vehicle at a mile's distance... which is cool.

it is alive! ...-ish

Well, I'm attempting to place a couple videos upon this post...

This first video is, uh... I can't remember. I think it's the cool new sniper rifle thing (me posting stuff with guns?! *gasp!*)

This second video is (if I remember correctly) a little techno-ish beat laid down with only the gun sounds from the [uber awesome] game Call of Duty 4 (COD4).

One might ask why I can't exactly remember what videos I put on. Well, that's simple: YouTube sucks you in and attempts to steal your mind one pointless video at a time. They should put a ban on stupidity in creativity (or "creativity" with BIG quoties). Seriously, like, at least 98.7% (real[ish] statistic) of the stuff on YouTube is worthless and should be removed. YouTube, can I have the hours of my life you stole 10 seconds at a time back? A million dollar refund would suffice; time's so hard to come by these days.

And here's an AR-10. It's like the AR-15s I have only instead of the 5.56mm (.223 cal), it shoots the .308 Winchester (7.63x51mm) round. That probably means nothing to most of you, but basically it shoots a bigger bullet, but is built on the same platform. I'm thinkin of selling the AR-15 that's currently scoped, de-scoping it, purchasing one of these with the money obtained by selling the AR-15, and putting the scope on it. It's a foolproof plan! ... I think?

Either way, it's a really cool rifle. Yay for firearms! I hope I can sell/buy/replace before this December 'cause I'd love to take it hunting. A friend here at Auburn has offered to take me hunting and "show me the ropes" as-it-were. So we shall see. Even if I don't see any deer, I'd still love to dress up in full camo and play in the woods shooting guns... 'cause you better believe I'd shoot before we leave. No need in wasting good ammo... wait...?

dontcha hate it when...?

Dontcha hate it when someone "quotes" something over and over and always does it wrong... even after constant correction and/or just watching/listening to it?

Dontcha hate it when someone always tries to one-up you? When someone fails to allow him/herself to be wrong, even when you know for a fact 100% that they are.

Dontcha hate it when someone tells lie after lie, not to cover something up, not to get away with something (although that's bad), but to attempt to make themselves look "cooler."

Dontcha hate it when you know you're in the right, but you can't prove it?

Dontcha hate it when you try your hardest to do your best and go unrecognized (although recognition shouldn't be the goal) and are instantly jumped on viciously the second you mess up, even a slight bit.

Dontcha hate it when you ask, apply, offer, beg, and everything short of grovel for something-- a position at work for example-- and someone else you know is less qualified than you is put in the place.

Dontcha hate it when the new guy who is lazy and hates working is hired on for more (or even close to) than your pay that you've fought eye, tooth, and nail for (although you shouldn't have had to fight for it).

I could go on. But I shall not. I shall now commence sleeping... [sleep intermission]. ok, now that that's out of the way...

anyways, enough of my rambling.

if you care to, feel free to add your own dontcha hate it's or even dontcha love it's (either sarcastic or literal)

from a possible future mechanical engineer/gunsmith

So the AR-15 I acquired is the Olympic Arms Plinker (pictured below). What's cool about the AR-15 (which is what M16A1 to A4 and M4s are) is that it is very easy to "modify" them.Take, for example the below picture:

Take out two pins and the upper and lower receivers come apart. I added the lower receiver with a collapsible stock and Persuasion (as I've decided to call my rifle) looks similar to this. The difference is that the rifle pictured is an actual M4 with a flattop upper receiver and carry handle mounted not to mention the fact that an M4 is full auto (the M4A1 anyway) and my rifle is only semi auto to comply with laws that civilians have to follow. In any case, once I obtain a flattop upper receiver I will do something similar to the next picture here:Although after thinking about it, I'll probably put a scope onto the flattop and mount my red dot scope the the carry handle of the plinker. In any case, the primary point is this: ... actually, I don't really know what my primary point is. But I will make one up: AR-15s are easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to deck out in cool stuff without all that messy gunsmithing and drilling holes in things.

While I'm on the topic of the modification of firearms, I've contemplated attempting to make a store that sells only two or three types of rifles, most definitely the AR-15 and AK-47 (or AK-74 which is an AK that is chambered for the lighter NATO 5.56 round that an AR-15 uses instead of the bigger and more destructive 7.62mm round). Maybe something else like the M14 or SKS. The primary reason: to have a store that a person can (provided they have a clean background check) walk in and purchase a rifle and all the accessories they have the desire to obtain all in one store at one time without all the messy hassle of ordering things off the internet. So instead of buying a rifle from the gun store, scopes from Dick's or Gander mountain, and mounting rails, grips, and forearms from internet suppliers, you could walk into SKIPPER'S and get it all in one place. And then try it out with the ammo you could buy there at the range out back. It's Genius!

crazy chicken sparkle parade

It's been awhile sense I've last posted. Probly like, 4 or more months. When I'm on the computer, I'm usually doing other things like online homework and school related stuff, checking email, or playing WoW. Speaking of wow, I saw this comic in the World of Warcraft comics.AGH! the guy next door is playing some silly video game next door. Not one with cool music, people yelling and screaming, explosions and gunshots, oh no. It has to be some (probly older) game with the horrible musical track, obnoxious beeps, and repetitively annoying sounds. I know the walls are thin and all, but c'mon, I can hear it way to loudly for it to be on any reasonable volume setting. growl...
Porkins cat is trying to destroy the death star. Anyways, speaking of staying on target, I should probly go and continue study for my test I belatedly remembered I had that is tomorrow morning, bright and early at eight.

But before I go, quick update on the situation regarding my computer and the reason(s) it needed to be wiped. Josh is planning on paying for "emotional damages and time expended" (by his own choice and discretion) along with a compensatory amount for the now faulty video card.

This has been a special announcement.
