third times a charm

An interesting thing happened today... but I'm not going to tell yall. You'll have to ask me (via IM, phone, etc.) to find out. heh heh.
.
Today also holds the second and third almost pretty bad event in my parent's car. Apparently, me driving my parent's car is a potential wreck magnet. The other day as I was leaving McAlister's, this girl was pulling in as I was coming to the exit. As I start to turn to leave I realize that the chick is totally driving on the completely wrong side of the exit; and had it not been for quick braking on both sides, it woulda been a head-on accident. There was a passenger in my car, so that woulda been even worse. Her (the other drivers') expression was priceless, though. Anyways. #2: I was in the turn lane to get off 72 and onto Perimeter. Well, the light was red and the people were turning left, so I stopped. Well, I glance into my rearview mirror **and behold!** there was a Jeep Wrangler rushing quickly upon me. I was totally bracing for impact; but thankfully he came to a complete stop before slamming into me... only an inch or two away, yes; but at least his car wasn't was stopped by mine. The third... this one was kinda my fault due to a bad call in judgement. I was going down the road (I can't remember which it was) and in front of me I see a line of cars coming to a stop: around three or four. The one in the front was turning left and there was absolutely no traffic coming the other way, so I'm like, "I won't slow down too much 'cause they'll be going by the time I get there" ... wrong. The moron apparently thought you had to come to a complete stop, wait three seconds, and then drift evr so slowly into your turn. This consequently resulted in the other two or three cars having to come to a complete stop: something I wasn't anticipating. I practically slammed on the brakes, **but alas!** I couldn't stop fast enough. Thankfully, there was no oncoming traffic, so I just used the other lane for some extra stopping room. It was close though. I would've hit the guy going like, 15 or 20 mph had I had nowhere to swerve to. But yeah, the moral of the story(s) is to watch out for bad drivers, brace for impact, and keep a keen eye on the road.
.
ADDITION!!
.
When I made this post I totally forgot to put anything about work today. Not only was it a slow day that went by fast (my favorite), Nancy had me working on the sandwich line today, which is cool 'cause I've kinda rather been wanting to. But yeah. That's all I had to add.

at least the wheels look nice...

DISASTER! Well, it's not really a disaster, but it isn't very good. We got a new power steering pump and successfully put it on; but that's not what's bad. What's bad is that my truck still makes that aweful noise when I turn the wheels. So it may be that I payed $100 for nothing. It's probably the hose that I thought was busted that they decided wasn't really which actually turns out to be. And what's worse: I'm going to have to like, take off the whole front end of the truck to get to the stupid thing. Cars = a pain. I did finally get me a pocket knife, though. Although it's a little big to be called a "pocket" knife. Oh well, I needed one... or wanted one. Either way. Well, other than the evils of car mechanics, it was a pretty good day 'cause work was really anti-busy.... that's not busy in case you didn't figure it out. Oh, and I found today that my trucks got like, 119 or so horse power, not precisely "great," but it's still triple digits!
.
It's funny, Bill (manager #4... well, #5 if you count Jennifer our catering manager) found out the other day that I was homeschooled. He was like, "I found out something about you that I never would've guessed. You're gay, HA no, just kidding. But I found out that you were homeschooled." He went on to say that he never would've guessed it outta me 'cause I seemed a (somewhat) normal person. It seems that "quirky" (to put it nicely) and "homeschooler" go hand in hand; of course, from what I've seen in my old homeschool group, it's for good reason. Not to be mean or anything, but... well, the truth hurts sometimes. I guess I escaped the grasp of "homeschool-ness" by having such awesomely cool friends.

and wow my hair's grown!

lets not bicker and argue about who killed who

Today was... alright. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Although I only had Kliff on the line w/ me (Eric was off somewhere), it wasn't that busy, so it was ok. Well, it was busy in a way. The people came in little groups over long periods of time instead of one big rush. We would have just a handful of orders at a time and some time to chill and restock in between (most times we would anyway). But sense people were coming in like that, I didn't get out of the store til like, 2:30 or so (half an hour over) 'cause they just kept on coming. Like, evryone that got off at 2:00 was getting perturbed. But oh well. I got two bags full of cookies today; for free. The were the "old" ones, so they were just going to throw them away... and I love to rescue cookies. Today was also payday. woohoo. or w00t.
.
My truck is now officially power steering-less, considering the power steering pump is in a box in the garage. Tomorrow I'm buying and and putting on a new one. yay.

piece by piece it falls apart
step by step it comes together

My truck's wheels are bling-blingin' now. They turned out surprisingly well. It was a pain to wash 'em though. egh. Like, a millions years of oil, tar, and road grime. Ok, not a million years, but those things must not have been washed in like, 10 years. ... Or at least 5. or one... but in any case! they were dirty; but now they are clean and silver. Tomorrow I'm buying a power steering pump, and Saturday Devin & I are putting it in.. in theory at least. That's the plan anyway. That was the only thing I wasn't able to get done, the power steering. But the success of the wheel's paint job really encouraged me. The next on my list of things-to-paint is the rear bumper: it's kinda beat up and rusted. And at some point I'm going to remove the tail-gate and take off the TOYOTA on it. I might repaint it w/ the silver, but I could always put something else on there; or nothing. I'll come to that when I come to that... obviously. Well, that's all for now.

Church is tonight. That oughta be good. Yeah.
Tomorrow's going to be a busy busy day. I'm getting up early so I get actually get what I want done before time to feast. ((more to talk about feasting in a sec)). I'm starting off the day by putting my truck up on jack-stands and taking off the wheels. After that's done, dad's going change the oil while I scrub the living heck out of the wheels to get them as clean as possible. I may or may not finish before dad's done w/ the oil change, but if one finishes before the other, I guess we'll help each other out; but that's neither here nor there. While the wheels are drying ((I'm talking about the actual wheel or rim. Not the tire)) I'll probably be working on refilling the window washer fluid stuff. After that, it's painting time. A fresh coat (or two) of silver paint and the asthetic appeal of my truck will be even better. While paint's drying though, and if Devin's here early enough, I'll be taking off the hose that takes power steering fluid to see if it's clogged. Whether it is or not (which we think it is) I'll need to replace it 'cause it's got a hole and is spirting fluid all over the place when I turn the wheel. So, hopefully at the end of the day, I'll have fresh oil, window washer fluid, nice looking wheels, and power steering back into place. That is, of course, if evrything goes as planned; and we all know how plans can be dashed. We shall see.
.
Now, about the feasting...
I GET TWO THANKSGIVINGS. muahahahah. Yesterday we had the whole turkey and dressing and sweet potatoe caserole and all that good stuff. Tomorrow we're having another uber sized meal. The reason is 'cause yesterday Holley (Devin's g/f) wasn't able to be here, and tomorrow Adam & Sarah weren't able to be here. Solution: Thanksgiving yesterday and tomorrow. yeah... mmm.. good....

I need some more CO2 'cause my supply ran out. No more shooting things for a while.
But yeah. Turns out that Karen is doing all the laundry, so I'm just kinda pittling around with not really too much to do. I could clean my room, but I don't feel like it. I could read, but I'm not in that reading mood. I could wash my truck, but it's too cold outside. There's actually alotta stuff I could do, but I either don't really feel like it, or circumstances require a different choice of pasttime. Well, after this rambling and a bit of chatting on the AIM, I think I might settle in my comfy chair for some R&R&R (rest and relaxation and reading).

mondays and mochas

I'm staying up real late tonight just 'cause I don't have school tomorrow and I'm not forced to go to bed. YES. I'll want to have my art appreciation gallery review paper written by next Tuesday, but I'm sure I can get it done on Friday or Saturday or sometime during the weekend. Tomorrow's clean-my-room day I think. I will have to do laundry, that's for sure.
Man, my lip hurts. I got shouldered in the face today at work. It wasn't a purposefully inflicted injury. I was just turning around and going forward and James was walking toward me looking the other way and then **wham!!** into his shoulder my face went. I nearly went all the way to the floor had I not caught onto the expo-window counter. Had to catch my bearings after that impact. The only actual injury I came away with was a busted lip, but that's not too bad considering. I almost slipped and fell into the floor today at work too; and, once again, the expo-window counter saved me, 'cause had I not had something to grab hold of, I would've slid right into the floor. Ouch is what that would be.
Well, I think I'm going to go read some before hitting the sack... maybe I'm not going to stay up as late as I thought I might've. Have fun kids.

old patch, old jeans: new cool

Iris played today. That's just a really good song.
Well, there's not really anything new to blog about really. I did get my jeans patched and back up to par. No more holey bum. And one of the knees is back in the pants. I even added a pocket for good measure. I'm going to put a little flap on it to make it usable, that way stuff don't fall out of the pocket when I kneel down or sit. I'm debating on how to patch the other knee, though; or if to patch it. Right now sense it's cold, I've just tied a bandana around my knee and safety-pinned it to the jeans. It works for now. I might even get another bandana to sew to the jeans in place of the safety-pinned one. Who knows. Either way, these jeans are accumulating layers on layers on them: add a little here, add a little there; whatever works really. Some of it's accidental... like the ginormous wholes in the knees ((or lack of knees)). Oh well. That's all for now.

Alas. I was correct. The power steering is seemingly on its last leg. The pump is making whirring sounds: not a sound you want to hear. The fact that power steering fluid is spirting from one of the hoses can't be a good thing either. It may be that the hose is clogged and so no fluid's getting to the pump. We shall see on Thursday. The truck is clean on the inside now, though. Aside from the jack-stands and stuff in the back "seat." I got those today so I could already have 'em Thursday and wouldn't have to remember to get them.

up side of down

Man, I've been very punny tonight. And randomly humorous. Like, in the middle of a sentence just say, "hey, I've got two nickels," w/o really thinking and not break the stride of what I was saying at all. A couple of the polish-knee-slapper puns that I made were really... dumb. But funny. ((well, funny like getting stabbed in the chest with a ice cream cone is funny)) Like, um... we were talking about some calculus problem and I was like, "man, why do they have it in terms of f of g of x and f of x and g of x. Ah, here's a problem in terms of u. I know u. ... No pun intended" and "There's two of everything tonight: you gave me two can tabs, I had two nickels, Kendel had to Pepsis.. It's two night. It is tonight." Ok, so I'm lame... I can't be funny all the time.
.
In Other News:
A guy died in my Comp class today. No joke. Ok, so he didn't die, but he did totally start coughing up blood & choking on it. Crazy stuff, that.

.
Life is so much better when you've finished the big paper and got it turned in, and you have a whole week to just chill... no pun intended. Ha. So lame. Anyways, my stress meter has dropped dramatically although there're a couple points that'll never allow it to lower, some old, some new; but that's a topic for when I'm depressed or something emo like that. The list of things to do over the Thanksgiving break is pretty overwhelming. Let's see...:
  • Change the oil in the truck
  • Check the power steering
  • Wash & clean out the truck
  • Re-paint the wheels on the truck
  • Possibly replacing the windshield wipers
  • Refilling the widow washer fluid
  • Replacing a missing parking light
  • Cleaning my room
  • ((and probably other stuff that'll come to me as I work))

Yeah... That's alot to do... Oh well. I'll see what I can do. There's probably more to blog about but... my mind decided that now is a good time to go into save-the-memory-for-tomorrow mode.

trashbag raincoats

Mario & I, when doing a trash run today, decided to be smart and wear trash bags to keep from getting too wet. Knock a hole in the bottom, pull it over your head, pop your arms through the sides; done: you have a trashbag raincoat. They worked pretty good granted that my hat, arms, and lower part of my legs got soaked. It was still entertaining, and I love me some rain. Speaking of which, I've gotten Rain (Breaking Benjamin) stuck my head. Oh well, good song.
.
Evr tried lifting a 50 lb box of potatoes when evry muscle in your arms, back, and left leg are sore as all get-out? Well, it's not the piece of cake you may think it is. It actually is a little taxing on you, believe it or not. Why am I so sore you may ask? Well, it's like this:
At Amanda's B-day party, they had one of those fair quality huge canvas inflated slide things. Put two and two together, and you can probably make your own conclusions. Considering the first time I went down I was barrel-rolling so fast that I flew 10 or 15 ft into the yard, it's not too hard to figure out. Later that night, though, is when things really got messy. We (the guys @ first, then the girls) decided to jump over the outside wall onto the flat "landing zone" of the slide. Almost evry time I went over, I slammed onto the back of my neck. Ouch the next day: bigtime. But it was fun. The crazy insane games of twister didn't help any of that. But that was fun too. We did some other stuff like a scavenger hunt, some other game, and cake, but the exact details escape me. But over all, it was a fun and incredibly exhausting time.
.
There was a wreck outside of McAlister's today. On the road between McAlister's and Wal-Mart, a guy slid into another car 'cause of the rain; nothing really bad, but a wreck none-the-less. Speaking of wrecks, one the kitchen guys, Andrew, got in a bad car wreck last night. He's in the hospital in intensive care. I can't remember which hospital, but he's not doing very well, either way. So keep him in your prayers.
.
One last ending note:
I find it interesting how, even in the music you don't like, you'll still find that you like some of the lyrics. I won't say specifically what song(s) so as to keep from humiliating myself (among other things). But yeah. Just some food for your brain.

I'm wondering how long I can keep up this latest trend of mine. The past few days I've managed to not get to bed until after 1:00 @ least. ((that's AM)). Yesterday... or this morning... I didn't get to bed til 'round 2:45-3:00ish. Well, in any case, I'm tired when I don't sleep and I'm tired when I do; so why not just get the most out of each day I got, right?...maybe not?ok. With about 18 hours of waking time, you'd be surprised to how little someone can do. Well, I do work and go to school, so that takes a largish chunk out of that 18, but all that time seems to slip awy quickly. Too quickly sometimes, and other times not quickly enough. And here's something I tried this morning. Ok, cup of coffee, four creamers, six sugars, two spoons of chocolate syrup... golden...
I also found that @ least two other people: James & Gabe (his real name's Gabriel, cool huh?), both have read/are reading the Wheel of Time. So that's kinda cool.
.
Well, that's all the random tid-bits I have for now. Here's some selected LP lyrics:
.
"No, no matter how far we've come, I can't wait to see tomorrow" ~With You
.
"Evrything falls apart
Even the people who never frown eventually break down
(the sacrifice of living in a lie)
Evrything has to end, you'll soon find
We're all out of time left to watch it all unwind" ~Pushing Me Away
.
"Uh, yeah." ~PPR: Kut (papercut) [Reanimation]
.
Those are all I feel like throwing on here for now.

if you could understand

Only a couple hundred pages to go! yes. I'm nearing completion of the 8th book of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. It's good stuff. The tenth book came out just this past week,... or was it the eleventh that came out? Well, in any case, the latest came out recently, and if I'm not mistaken (or my resource isn't mistaken) there's going to be 13th books. You guys should read 'em sometime. Hard reading in its own way being as there's no fewer than 5 stories going on @ any given time by the book I'm reading; but it does have a way of capturing the reader's attention.
evrything hangs by a thread
I mention all that 'cause with the Senior High Retreat this past weekend there's been less than a handful of people to talk to on IM, so I've been on a reading frenzy. I also got a cool new chair (that was a slightly delayed if more than welcome b-day gift from my parent's). I would say it's like KP's only a slightly smaller version, except that more than likely only one or two, if none, have seen it. The best way to describe it is thus: a leather bowl supported my canvas on a folding frame. You'd have to see it I guess. Either way, it's really comfortable; except when evry possible sitting postion has been exhausted w/ hours of use. But then, very few chairs, if any, are comfortable after being sat in for hours.
that's choking on the splinters
Well, that's all for now, chaps.
More later or something of the general sort.

drop a gear and petal to the metal

Work was rediculously hecktic today. Like, it was a non-stop line-to-the-door almost the entire time from opening til somewhere around 1:30. There were four of us on the salad and spud line and we still got behind a couple times. It didn't help that A) two of the guys were kinda new and still slightly unused to working @ McAlister's and B) the ticket printers weren't printing right and orders were being left out and/or forgotten 'cause we didn't get the ticket. But other than that it was a pretty good day. I got there @ 10:00 instead of 9:00 today 'cause Milner (the not-as-cool manager) messed up on the schedule and put me off on Friday instead of Saturday which I requested. Fortunately it wasn't too much trouble to get Saturday off; and because there wasn't any reason that I needed Friday off, Nancy had me come in to help. So yeah. That's how it is.

oh, and i can pony-tail my mullet
if only a very short one

oh yeah, btw

I forgot to tell about the good music that was played yesterday morning @ work. Adam, the other cool manager, plays a rock station instead of the silly oldies and "light rock." (paw; "rock" my foot). Anyways, among the songs played were, Iris (which is awlesome), that one song that says comiserating, Here w/o You (still a fan favorite for me), and The Reason. There was a few othr songs, but I can't recall what they were. Still good stuff.
loose it. one knot @ a time
